Born in Southern West Virginia, I always knew I was going to be an artist. I cannot remember a time that I did not draw or want to draw. Through my experiences growing up in rural Appalachia, I developed ideas and emotions that still fuel my figurative work. My mother encouraged me and my high school art teacher, Rita Montrosse, pushed me to experiment with my work and my creativity. After graduating from Princeton Senior High School, I attended the Cleveland Institute of Art where I earned a BFA with honors in Drawing. I then attended Arizona State University’s reputable School of Art graduating with honors and a MFA in Ceramics. I moved back to West Virginia in 2006 and live in Princeton with my wife.
