My name is Rodrigo Duarte, I’m a 37 years old Portuguese designer. But this is far from saying everything or even half about me.
I graduated in Visual Design, the image world and how to depict certain moments, feelings, or events, either in a drawing, a photograph or a movie, has always invited me to explore.
Throughout my life music always played a very important role, so I explored the music and even the sound world.
While still studying for my Design degree I started to format the idea that the multimedia universe was to be my professional home. The thought of joining my biggest passions and develop them as an art and professional career pushed me forward.
The technological world began to enter our lives more and more each day, and curious as I was, and intending to explore the multimedia universe, of course that computers became a perfect tool for all of it.
I took a post-degree in Interactive Media, focusing on a project to develop an e-learning platform that allowed you to learn, explore and create music.
For some years I dedicated myself more to design, making most of my work for digital and printed platforms. I was Senior Designer of a multinational Group dedicated to industry and services related to construction. From a simple company stationery, or product catalogue; to creating institutional videos or branding from scratch new companies of the Group.
I have worked in Design these last decade or so; yet I have always maintained focus on the music as well. Working as a Designer I managed to work with musicians, creating artwork for their records and I even worked as producer\manager of a band for some time. I continue to work as a DJ playing in some events and concerts. During about a year I wrote musical reviews for a digital magazine called PUNCH Magazine.
Last year I dedicated some time to the turntablism movement and community, and released a looper for vinyl scratching, being able to spread Portuguese music throughout the world community of scratc
