I've been a writer since the time I learned to write. My first short story, Harlequin Dancer was published in a national preteen magazine when I was 9 years old. For the last 35+ years, I have been writing professionally and loving what I do. Few people can actually say that and mean it! I'm very fortunate.
With a Masters in Library and Information Science and dual Bachelors in Journalism and Creative Writing, I am ready, willing and able to handle any writing project that comes my way. My expertise in researching allows me to access necessary information quicker than those without my skills as a Librarian. Recently and unexpectedly, I became a widow after 31 years of marriage. I have 4 grown children, and a granddaughter. Integrity, work ethic, and loyalty are important to me. Above all, I value my family and my country. My father was Army, and I am a proud, flag-flying American, who loves her country, shooting pool, football, going to the shooting range, relaxing by the pool, and writing. I showed, bred, trained, and ran a rescue for Afghan Hounds, Golden Retrievers, and Newfoundlands. Many of my Goldens went to Guiding Eyes for the Blind and Canine Companions.
The one thing that all potential clients need to know about me is that I am brutally honest. If your website stinks, I'll tell you. Any ideas that are not so great, I'll tell you. I'm point blank and don't sugarcoat anything. If you can handle bluntness, hire me.

Work Terms

Creativity is not a 9-5 job. A writer who is honest with you will tell you that directly, and not give you bogus schedules. I find that humorous. I've always been a night owl, most of us creatives are, so I am usually available from 11 AM until 3 AM, unless I am writing onsite at a client's place of business for travel pieces.
When it comes to payment, it must be funded through SafePay. Long-term projects do require milestones with payment released when the milestones have been successfully met. For average projects, payment must be released upon completion and acceptance of work. While I do have an hourly rate that depends upon the research required for a project, I do prefer charging a per article or per project rate. I retain all rights to the work until payment has been released. In essence, court cases are messy, so don't post my work until you've paid for it.
I believe communication between client and writer is importance to the success of the project. I am happy to email or talk on the phone. Sometimes speaking on the phone helps to ensure that we both understand where the project is and needs to go.
