I have experience in preparing, writing and editing research proposals together with grant applications. I successfully presented my research proposal on climate change coping strategies before a panel of experts and I was a successful applicant for funding from the National Research Foundation and Water Research Commission in South Africa, for my first
and second year respectively. For my research, I collected and analyzed data which resulted in a paper currently under review in Livestock Science Journal. In 2021, I partnered with my colleagues and co-authored a review article that was published in the Journal of Arid Environments: https://doi.org/10.1016/J.JARIDENV.2021.104511. As a team member, my
roles included conducting an extensive literature review, draft write-up, proofreading, and editing. I was also involved in progress report write-ups for the Water Research Commission and my duties were planning and scheduling meetings, presenting research results in oral reports and project management. I held a volunteer position within my student association as a treasurer. My administrative duties included drafting and allocating a budget for departments, organizing
fund-raising activities and reporting on the financial status. Most recently, I attended an Agri- leadership and mentorship course offered by Stellenbosch University where I learnt financial and time management, leadership, mentorship, effective communication skills and networking. I am excited at the prospect of utilizing my skills while offering solutions to those in need. Apart from academic work, I spend most of my time indoors as I am an avid reader and love listening to music. Outdoors, I enjoy birdwatching and taking little hikes.
