I'm a collaborative, values-driven communications professional with 10 years of experience in content creation for audiences in the B2B and B2C spaces.
I’m an experienced editor and writer with over 10 years of experience in web editing and writing. Somehow, I still believe in the magic between writers and readers and the responsibility to create accurate, helpful, and engaging materials that help people make informed decisions.
For the last year, I’ve been helping start-ups and nonprofits build their presence online and carve out their niche, immersing myself in freelance writing and editing projects like how-to gardening guides, meal plan reviews, and early childhood learning programs and support for new educators.
I’ve also been spreading the word about my collection of short stories, Echolocation and Other Stories, and building relationships with fiction readers and writers online.
Prior to this, I edited and wrote for the consumer website, Move.org, leading readers to moving services fit for their needs and budgets. I also mentored three in-house writers, oversaw a team of freelancers, advocated for and helped create new audience research pathways, optimized articles for current search queries, pitched new content and category ideas, and tweaked our methodology to provide apples-to-apples service comparisons and specific pricing data.
Before this I helped catering and events companies build brands and find real clients online. This position exposed me to almost every piece of business writing under the sun--web page copy, blogs, menu announcements, brand rollouts, storyboards, ads, billboards, sales scripts, internal memos. You name it, I wrote it.
My career in publishing took off several years ago when I became the editor of two trade magazines for contractors and engineers in the HVAC and plumbing space. This was a highly coordinated and deadline-driven position that allowed me to build a voice, share news that readers were looking for, and deliver stories people and businesses were proud of. My efforts to recruit columnists, cover relevant topics, and build community online and at trade shows helped pave the way to a readership of nearly 70,000 magazine subscribers.
