Expert Fiction & Nonfiction Editor
Since 2011, I’ve been a freelance editor, and I’ve been blessed to work with many amazing clients. In 2012 I started freelancing full-time and am now the principal editor for Crescendo Publishing (headquartered in Carlsbad, CA) as well as the Liberty Fund (headquartered in Indianapolis, IN). I’m a former English teacher (from 1999 to 2012) and newspaper reporter and editor (from 1996 to 1999), which continue to aid and inform my freelance projects.
With my teaching and journalism background, I am a natural proofreader and copy editor. I know grammar rules backwards and forwards, and I have no problem meeting deadlines. Your manuscript, paper, article, or e-mail will shine when I’m finished with it.
In my spare time, I write fiction. In 2014 I published my YA novel, The Dragon’s Daughter, and have just finished the first draft of my fourth novel, a ghost story set in the mountains of Tennessee.
Because of the time I have spent developing my own fiction, I can help you with yours. I know what it takes to bring characters to life, to find holes in plots, to build suspense that keeps your readers engrossed. I love to help writers develop their stories.
I’ll say it again: I feel blessed to do what I do. I enjoy my job. I get to work with great people on interesting projects. I hope yours will be next. Don't hesitate to reach out about your project!
Work Terms
This is my full-time job and I treat it that way. I work fairly normal business hours Monday-Friday and often a few hours on Saturday (although not always--family time is important). Depending on the scope of the project, I may request multiple milestones with a partial payment up front, but each project is unique and those details are discussed with each client individually.
