I have worked for a range of business clients with a range of issues over the last ten years. Some examples are:
A smaller business client was just getting started. I advise them on the optimal business structure to reduce overheads, administration and tax.
Another client was looking for compliance review. I assessed and manage financial risks for their businesses in line with their mission, values and corporate vision to manage risk of future lawsuits, and meet legal requirements for auditing.
A hairdressing business came to me with tax debts of $150,000. I got a legally binding agreement for a hairdresser that saved him half of the tax bill, and saved his business from going under.
A tertiary institution was just getting established and came to me for legal advice. After detailed discussions, the trust they had in mind was found to be totally unsuitable and expensive tax-wise. given their particular circumstances, I advised they start a business, taking full advantage of the Aboriginality of the board, and the sustainable business model which allowed them to register as a not-for-profit and get charitable status. This business structure not only reduced their tax bill but also administration costs associated with corporate and charitable compliance.
A mid-sized business asked me to protect their intellectual property in a drinks venture. I registered the intellectual property allowing them to market their goods without any trade or IP infringement issues.
When a business partnership got into a dispute, I provided a path for resolution based on the founding document, which allowed the business to avoid tens of thousands of dollars in legal costs going to court.
