Editor for Fiction, Nonfiction, and Business Writing
An award-winning digital media company.
A national literary magazine.
The world’s leading private creative writing school.
Executives, entrepreneurs, and entertainment moguls.
Since 2016, I've been copy editing books and business writing for all of them...
...and many others.
Now, I'd love to polish content for you!
My name is Steph Spector, and I'm a freelance copy editor based in bucolic Texas Hill Country. I help writers dazzle their readers by making sure their content is well-structured and their sentences grammatically correct and stylistically sound.
I edit fiction, nonfiction, and business writing. My specialties? 1) Nonfiction books related to wellness and personal development, and 2) memoirs. I’m happy to work on other content, too, though.

Formerly, I served as the managing editor of the national literary magazine the Roanoke Review, a copy editor for articles published to Forbes.com, and a developmental editor for Treehugger.com, a Dotdash brand. My clients have worked at such companies as Google, The New York Times, Salesforce, the ASPCA, and other notable employers. I've also partnered with writing coaches to copy edit and proofread their clients' manuscripts before they get self-published.
An instructor at New York City’s Gotham Writers Workshop, I’ve taught more than 1,000 hours of basic grammar, advanced grammar, business writing, and creative writing courses. I also wrote the curriculum for Gotham's advanced grammar class and serve as the creative nonfiction editor for the school's literary magazine, The Razor.
