Together, we will make your writing flourish.
I grew up in a small town in Northern California that very few people outside of the area have ever heard of. For as long as I can remember, I have loved to read, write, and imagine. Reading and writing have always been my escape from a world I didn't want to live in as well as my primary ways of understanding it. I read to escape and view a slightly more organized version of the chaos surrounding me; I write to express to myself and others how I see the world. Over the years, writing has grown to be my primary passion, and now it is my way of life.
Due to my studious and academic nature, I served as valedictorian for my high school when I graduated in 2011. In 2015, I graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Davis, with a Bachelor's in English with Emphases in Literature, Criticism, and Theory and Creative Writing. By August 2019, I anticipate obtaining my Master's in Creative Writing from the University of Edinburgh's online distance learning program. (Mine is the final class to ever get to enjoy this program as the university has deemed it unprofitable for them.) I am also a member of two honors societies from my undergraduate years, Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi, and was longlisted for the Margery Allingham Short Story Competition in 2017.
I have freelanced as a writer and editor since May 2017. Through my writing blog, The Writer's Scrap Bin, and Fiverr, I have served as editor for several books, including the Amazon bestseller Daddy's Curse. I have also ghostwritten a series of eight books (including novelizations of screenplays), but the work conflicts with my values of equality, openness, and anti-prejudice, and so I prefer to no longer be associated with these books. As it has become clear to me that Fiverr buyers will not pay editors and writers the fair rate according to industry standards simply due to the platform the services are on, I have decided to provide my services elsewhere.
Work Terms
My hours of operation are pretty flexible, although I prefer to work between 12:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time Monday through Friday. I am often available on the weekends as well, but I prefer to keep that time free of commitment so that I may focus on self-care, loved ones, and other commitments.
Messaging through Guru is the best way to communicate with me. I am likely to answer fairly quickly even if I am not officially "on the clock" but it is not guaranteed, so please be patient if I do not answer outside of the time frame discussed above.
I try my best to accommodate my clients' needs, including adjustments in payment schedules and project scope. I only request that all changes are run by me first through messaging so that we might have a written record of it and I will be aware of it and be able to voice any concerns or questions before changes are enacted.
