Raising Dollars for Change
Tamar Cloyd is a freelance writer and fundraiser. She has over 10 years experience working in the nonprofit sector, including fundraising, program management, communications (online and print), and direct service delivery. Her previous fundraising positions include development specialist for Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (raising over $500,000 in membership dues and $1.3 million in project/event/general operating funds), grants officer for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law (cultivating new corporate support for $30,000 from the PNC Foundation) and development manager for Education Voters of America (raising more than $90,000 in her first eight months on the job).
Tamar is a former steering committee member of the D.C. Chapter of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP). She has also served as a volunteer grant reviewer with the DC Children & Youth Investment Trust Corporation and D.C.’s Office of the State Superintendent of Education.
Work Terms
I enjoy working in partnership with my clients. This means that we begin a project with a clear understanding of our respective roles and expectations. I am also a stickler for meeting deadlines, requesting as much information as possible from my client, both before and during the course of the project.
