know your numbers, know your business.
I had some really great bosses along the way. And I had some that were not so great. What I have learned is that there are many ways to run a business including a million ways of what not to do. My most important lesson learned; that people work for people, not companies. At a certain point if your associates, your employees, stay because of the paycheck and not because of the satisfaction that their work gives them – you have a toxic culture. I learned some amazing things while working for a few family businesses, including my father’s. What finally moved me to becoming my own boss was that I realized I could do more for the growth of businesses and individuals by focusing on specific tasks instead of one too many and allowing for business owners to grow.
Like I said before, I have had some amazing bosses along the way, and some, not so great. I believe and still practice to this day making decisions that are in the best interest for the people and organizations that I serve. I say serve and not work for with intent. I have been in managerial roles from a young age. Leadership came easy to me, but I also learned that leadership also came with great responsibility. That responsibility, is one of the best and most awesome experiences you will ever have. It not only gives you the ability to lead, it allows for you to make a lasting positive impact to those around you.
