I am a retired analytical chemist with 32 years experience with The Dow Chemical Company. Primary professional responsibilities included developing and writing analytical methods, Standard Operating Procedures, technical presentations, and publications.
I represented Dow at ASTM International committee meetings including 3 years as chairman of Committee D20.70 on Analytical Methods for Plastics. As a company representative I spearheaded development of chromatographic and spectroscopic methods for analysis of polymer materials and additives used in commercial plastic products.
When I retired in 1995, I took on the role as instructor for the analytical chemistry portion of the ASTM International course entitled Introduction to Major Testing Techniques for Plastics presented a couple of times a year within the United States. Part of this instruction includes constant updates to keep the student's manual (.pdf files) and the Microsoft PowerPoint presentations used during this 3-day training course current with today's technologies. A portion of one of these PowerPoint presentations (without the incorporated video) is attached.
