A renaissance DBA that adds value to an organization...
In short, my work as a professional DBA stems from 30+ years of working in the IT field starting with my U.S. Air Force career which created an incredible foundation to show case my skills in the civilian space. The following conveys a few skills I provided on past work engagements:
* Manage DBA administrators (DBAs) supporting MS SQL Server , and Postgresql Server Databases running in AWS and on-premise.
* Mentor and lead the DBA members in their day-to-day activities.
* Setup, patching, debugging, upgrading and installation of databases and tool sets. Documents and maintains consistent and current patches across test development and production environments.
* Contribute to data recovery, maintenance, data integrity, and space requirements for physical database being met through formulations and monitoring of policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.
* Audit the current environments, provide capacity planning and best practices for the future production / development / test environments, which may include establishing new standards and procedures.
* Managed ticket queues and measure and promote efficiency in the processing and completion of tickets.
* Collaborate with internal teams and grow relationships to ensure operational success.
* Provide KPIs to senior leadership on deliverables.
* Developed proactive strategies to maintain and support all databases with a goal to maximize availability and uptime.
* Maintain and improve best practices and standardize processes across the global database team.
* Identify opportunities for operational efficiency.
* Managed and contribute to data migration projects.
* Analyze and evaluate systems for consolidation, optimization, and capacity planning for operational efficiency.
My work ethic, is a discipline and timely work regimen that started years ago.
My hobbies are drone flying, European car restorations, music production and playing jazz.
Work Terms
The hours I'm willing to work will be based on simply getting the job done on time, on budget, and most of all with great sustainability. My rate is negotiable depending of the amount and complexity of the work. I can work during holidays if needed but with reasonable compensation. I'm willing to travel when needed, and a agreed upon compensation.
