"Start with what is right rather than what is acceptable." Franz Kafka
I am lucky enough to be paid to be a nerd. This intelectual component, the learning and challenge that is necesarily involved, is what makes me love my work.
Services I provide:
Legal translation (ES-EN). Curiously enough, I was trained to translate into British English also I'm US born and bred. I live and work in Spain.
Editing/Proofreading/Correcting/Copyediting. And yes, I do know that they all have different particularities to them. I will adjust to your needs, and to your style book, should you have one.
Writing. Copywriting. Speeches. Ghostwriting. Columns. Fiction. Academic writing. Correspondence. Legal submissions for international directories. Those emails/letters you don't know how to write due to awkward or extremely uncomfortable situations.
Writing classes. For native English speakers, even PhDs (it always helps to have another set of eyes help you improve your work). For students of English as a foreign language,
English classes. Tailored to your needs. Legal English, general English, test preparation, students from age 0 (yes, I mean it!) to as old as the brain desires. There is no such thing as being too old to learn English!
Cross-cultural consultancy services: I'll help you smooth out the process of taking your business or your personal life from Spain to the US or vice versa. Or, if you're foreign in Spain, I can help you settle in, no matter where you're from.
Who I am:
Cross-cultural consultant and corporate image strategist. Columbia grad. Comparative literature freak. Firm believer in culture-through-language (and back again). Editing out…(not just junk in text).
When not editing or translating, I can usually be found in an eclectic mix of creative, practical, intellectual and very silly endeavors, including arts & crafts in English with young kids in Madrid, listening to New Yorker Fiction podcasts, on long walks...or just enjoying gorgeous, sunny days. You may even find me (gasp!) writing my own material.
