Where Technical Precision Meets Creative Expression
From the sun-drenched streets of Rhodes to the marble quarries of mainland Greece, my journey has been anything but conventional. As a child growing up on the historic island in the late '80s and '90s, I found expression through graffiti art and sketching, while developing a deep love for storytelling through cinema. These creative roots would later blend unexpectedly with my technical career.
My path took its first significant turn when I joined the Special Forces for my military service - an experience that taught me discipline, resilience, and the power of pushing beyond perceived limitations. This foundation served me well as I pursued mining engineering, though my hunger for knowledge and adventure led me to Montpellier, France, for a Master's in geology. There, between studying rock formations and learning French, I discovered how language and culture could bridge divides and open doors to new perspectives.
Life had different plans than my carefully plotted course. After my thesis work in Vienna's petroleum industry didn't lead to permanent position, I found myself making cocktails instead of analyzing core samples. Yet this detour during Greece's financial crisis taught me adaptability and humility - skills that proved invaluable when an opportunity arose in Ivory Coast. That year-plus as a mining engineer in West Africa transformed my worldview, introducing me to extraordinary kindness, vibrant cultures, and unforgettable flavors that still influence my perspective today.
Returning to Greece, I've worked everywhere from marble quarries to underground gold mines, each experience adding layers to my understanding of both earth sciences and human nature. Now, settled in Athens with my wife and newborn daughter, I'm embracing new challenges. While maintaining my technical career, I channel my love for literature through writing book reviews for a local newspaper. My next adventure? Studying philosophy - because I believe that understanding the why is just as important as knowing the how.
When not balancing family life with professional pursuits, you'll find me running through the streets of Athens, letting my mind wander between the ancient wisdom of philosophers and the future possibilities in AI and big data analytics - my latest academic pursuit.
