Udhaya Kumar (uday), in the most recent times, been an entrepreneur providing professional services through Jalur Dinasti until July 2022 and then through Glocal Nexus. They are areas Glocal Nexus involved are in the Financial Services, Logisitic and Shipping, Education and Training, Solar Energy Initiative, Products marketing and sales and Ecommerce programs.
Prior to that, he was spearheading the Digital Postal Services with Pos Malaysia as Vice President to transform their programs to incorporate the latest Digital innovations to move the century old organisation to the digital realms.
Udhaya Kumar has been in the banking and finance industry for more than two decades in various areas i.e. Operations, Card Marketing, Merchant Marketing, and Project Management, System Testing & Implementation.
He has been involved in facilitating the setting up of Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia’s Islamic Card Center. His role in this project has been from the initial stage of seeking the business, with preparing presentations, business plans, financial projections, commercial terms management, contract formulation, project planning, operations design, policies & procedures, capacity planning, staffing and office resource and equipment planning, system testing and implementation.
He has also been closely associated with Bank Islam’s Card Center on a consulting basis, from the inception of the first Islamic Chip based credit card, in South East Asia, to other various products and services over time span of more than 5 years and that relationship is still an ongoing venture.
Another first, was the setting up of the Malaysia’s first Online Banking portal by Maybank, where he was the consultant project manager for the user’s group. He has also scored the first Visa Business Card with the launched with RHB Bank. He also was involved in the taking over the American Express Malaysian card portfolio by Maybank, where his support role was to complete the data and operation transfer from the Amex host to Maybank for the merchant’s portfolio.
He has consulted for Visa International on all aspect of Marketing, Consumer Research, Advertising & Promotions and Product Implementation. As a consultant to Visa International, he has also indirectly assisted Visa’s member banks in their Visa product-related initiatives, and thus has vast experience in different organizational business requirements and challenges.
His career in credit card business started in Maybank. Some of his achievements included the implementation of the Decentralized Merchant Payments for both manual and Electronic (1992) merchant drafts, where the reconciliation and payment of merchant sales draft were performed at branches thus improving customer satisfaction by reducing the turnaround time to within 24 hours.
