I began working in graphic design in the late 1980s, when the Mac was first coming into its own as a tool for print production. I started with a company called Vista Chrome, digitizing real estate logos for the conversion of the nationally-franchised Homes & Land Magazine to digital format from conventional paste-up. I converted thousands of logos from across the country into .ai format. Later, I moved to beta testing software for them, including the first generation of Adobe Photoshop, and the first 24-bit graphics cards for Macintosh.

After a move to Orlando I worked for Robinson's Marketing and Advertising for two years. Their primary client when I began was the creation of all of the menus for Red Lobster chains across the U.S. They were in Pagemaker when I started but I convinced them to switch to the newcomer QuarkXpress, and much better results were achieved, with greater predictability of what was going to come out of the imagesetter.

I moved to Athens, Georgia in 1992 and spent five years working for a design shop, assisting a designer who worked entirely with conventional tools. I took his designs and converted them to digital files. We produced hundreds of ads, and art catalogs for the University of Georgia Museum. I also had my own clients curing this time, mainly the design of CDs and t-shirts for the local music scene. A Widespread Panic design I created sold over 100,000 copies.

In 1997 I moved to Hollywood Florida, where I have been for the last 20 years. I began as a designer with Crooks Printing, and then transitioned to selling prepress equipment for two years for Fujufilm. An opportunity to work remotely as a catalog designer for Joissu Products in Orlando was my gig from 2000-2006, and I then became the designer and photo editor of MOVES Magazine. In 2009 I went to work for Our City Media, a community news magazine group with seven publications in Broward County. I continue to do their editorial work as of this writing, ~150 pages per month.

Work Terms

I am available to work from 8am-8pm Eastern Standard Time. I am an excellent communicator, and know how to construct files so that changes can be accomplished with a minimum of difficulty.
