Former NBA writer turned basketball operations, career development and media/social media professional.

Wendell Maxey has over a decade worth of vast basketball, media and consulting experience and currently serves as Director of Public Relations for Scorers 1st Sportmanagement, an international full-service basketball agency with offices in Europe and the US.

A former sports writer with ESPN.com, NBA.com and SLAM Magazine, Wendell currently develops and drives the communication strategy for Scorers 1st to include media relations, social media, branding, player relations and performance tracking and promotion of the annual Scorers 1st Showcase in Las Vegas. Wendell also helps manage scouting and recruiting efforts for both US and international markets.

Prior to working with Scorers 1st, Wendell was Lead Scout for Nürnberger Basketball Club (NBC) in ProA Germany. During the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, he led scouting and recruiting fields, prepared advanced scouting reports, game film analysis, individual player reports, assisted coaching staff with practices, game plans, individual player workouts and development. Conducted offseason player workouts and tryouts.

Wendell covered the NBA in New York, New Jersey and Portland; college basketball (Pac 12, West Coast, Big Sky), international basketball - the 2011 European Championship in Lithuania as a featured writer with NBA.com, ESPN.com, SLAM Magazine/SLAMonline, USA Today, FOXSports.com among other publications, while appearing on NBA TV & numerous radio stations.

In September, 2014 Wendell was named Head Coach of the Varsity boys basketball team at the Franconian International School in Erlangen, Germany, before re-locating back to the US in 2015 to launch his sports consulting business focused on local, national and international sports at the youth, college and professional level.
