I've been a writer for as long as I could hold a pencil and a photographer from the day I got my first Brownie. Professionally, I've worked as a journalist, photojournalist, and generalist writer, editor, and photographer for more than 30 years covering diverse subjects, from nature to health care, to management and international development.

I have a wide range of interests and experience, with special passion for nature. A lifelong conservationist, I've worked as a volunteer and on staff for nonprofit conservation organizations, writing and organizing events. I've helped start a master naturalist chapter and a Unitarian Universalist congregation and have served on three boards of directors.

I have a passion for learning and writing about what I learn, particularly when it comes to nature. Living on the border of Shenandoah National Park, I take advantage of this great privilege by spending much of my time out learning about the animals, plants, and ecosystems around me.

No matter the project, I tackle it as a challenge, an enjoyable puzzle to be solved, focusing all my energy, talent, and experience on it.

Work Terms

I keep a flexible work schedule. Rates vary depending on the task and project. Payment is due upon completion of a project, and I prefer using Guru's escrow service.
