Working for various brands and executing their eclectic requests has afforded me a unique skill set that has transformed me into a formidable freelance warrior.
And then, I started my own brand.
No one truly prepares you for your own venture into the business abyss. I wore multiple hats (some that didn't even fit!), doing everything from art direction to budget management on down to client servicing. I was no longer a designer – I was an artrepreneur. Half my brain created while the other half strategized. I designed ads while contemplating media space. I pitched clients while simultaneously pricing their future printing requirements. It was a rough, amazing, tiring, enlightening, hard-hitting, soul-stirring experience that awoke within me my true calling – to be a business-minded creative.
So to you, prospective employer, I say this:
