An aspiring author with a passion for writing and storytelling.
The first time I decided to be an author was when I was ridiculed by a guy for having a crush on him. He called me out on my looks and said I had some audacity to pursue him. Honestly, it wasn't him who said all that, rather his best friend, which added more fuel to the humiliation. No one understood the mortification I felt that day, not even my friends. I could not share this with my family then, so I bottled it all in, unable to put my emotions into words or even bring myself to think about what just happened. Until an idea struck me. If I can't put them into words verbally, why not through ink?
I shall admit, my first story was rather corny and dramatic, but it had the effect I suspected it would- it took the heavy load off my chest. The pain and humiliation that I suffered in silence soon begin to disappear as I let out my emotions to that paper and pen, who, I soon realized, understood me better than anyone else. They didn't judge me for who I was, they didn't argue with me. They remained as the silent listeners and bearers of my secrets that to this day on, I still share with them. All too suddenly, books became my best friend, and the more I had something to tell, the more I shared it with them, until story telling became a part of me, and I turned my own life story into fiction novels, weaved my dreams into reality and breathed life into character's that only ever stayed in my head.
I came to share a connection with Storytelling I never thought I could, and I'm glad I did.
