Writing to Express and Impress -- Excellence in English Writing for Business and Academic Purposes

I am an Indian born Afghan citizen, with Overseas Citizen of India status. I have worked for 31 years in the non-governmental sector, as English as a second language teacher, professional trainer, communications person and manager.

At the age of 53, I feel it is time to break off from a full-time job and go out on my own as a freelancer. My work has involved communication, management, teaching and training, all of which I have enjoyed and learned from. I have worked with international organizations like the International Medical Corps, UNESCO, International Rescue Committee, and Afghan organizations Afghan Women's Resource Center, IbnSina Public Health Afghanistan, Afghan Women's Educational Center, and briefly with UNFPA (as consultant for writing their 2010- 2011 report available on their website).

I am passionate about teaching and training people of all ages, and would like to free myself from my current job working with an NGO, to do more work of my own choice, mainly to support women and children get a good quality education. I intend to do this by engaging in volunteer work at street children's education centers and other schools and institutions which agree to support education for children with no resources. For this I need to have an alternate source of income so that I do not need to rely on my children financially.

I value integrity in my work and push myself to fulfill all my obligations. I care deeply about improving the lot of Afghan women and children, who suffer the consequences of conflict of which they are not a part, and for the decisions and actions of the men in their families or in power in the country. I feel terrible when I see very young children begging or working in the streets of Kabul, when they should be enjoying a carefree life and going to school like all other children. I want to help them, and to inspire them so that they can find reason to hope for a better future despite all the problems in their lives.

Work Terms

I would like to commit 2 to 4 hours per day five days in a week and would prefer to be paid via bank transfer into my Axis bank account in India since I move between India and Kabul frequently. Preferable mode of communication is via email -- zlkh.haq@gmail.com.
