Job Summary
The Arbitrator will be responsible for resolving disputes between parties through arbitration processes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in law, extensive knowledge of dispute resolution mechanisms, and the ability to make impartial decisions based on the evidence presented. This position requires excellent analytical skills, effective communication, and a deep understanding of arbitration rules and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct Hearings: Organize and preside over arbitration hearings, ensuring that proceedings are conducted fairly, efficiently, and in accordance with established rules and regulations.
Review Evidence: Analyze evidence presented by both parties, including documents, witness testimonies, and expert reports, to ascertain the facts of the case.
Render Decisions: Issue binding or non-binding decisions based on the merits of the case and applicable laws or regulations, providing clear and well-reasoned explanations for determinations.
Draft Arbitration Awards: Prepare written arbitration awards that outline the findings, conclusions, and any awards granted, ensuring clarity and compliance with legal standards.
Maintain Impartiality: Uphold the integrity of the arbitration process by ensuring neutrality and impartiality throughout the proceedings, managing any potential conflicts of interest.
Communicate Effectively: Engage with all parties involved, including legal representatives, clients, and witnesses, to facilitate an understanding of the arbitration process and outcomes.
Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with developments in arbitration law, procedures, and best practices, participating in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
Collaborate with Panels: Work effectively with co-arbitrators and other professionals involved in complex arbitration cases, fostering a cooperative environment.
Qualifications
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree from an accredited institution; additional qualifications in arbitration or dispute resolution are preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an arbitrator or mediator, or relevant legal experience in litigation, dispute resolution, or a comparable field.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of arbitration laws, rules (e.g., UNCITRAL, ICC, SIAC), and practices, as well as familiarity with the specific industry relevant to the arbitration.
Skills:

- Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on conflict resolution.
