We are looking for dedicated and detail-oriented closed captioners to join our team for a long-term position. This role involves creating accurate closed captions (CC) for videos containing mature and sensitive content, so applicants must be comfortable working with explicit material.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create precise closed captions that capture dialogue, sounds, and important audio cues in the video. You'll have to transcribe the video on your own.
- Ensure that captions are grammatically correct, punctuated appropriately, and formatted for readability (including proper line breaks).
- Sync captions accurately with the video’s timeline for smooth, timed delivery.
- Review and edit captions for accuracy and consistency.
- Meet deadlines and maintain a professional approach to all assigned projects.
Deliverables:
- Endorse at least 5 videos (30-40 minutes each) per week, after the initial ramp-up period.
- Work on a full-time basis, 5 days a week.
- While ample time will be given for each task, there may be occasional urgent requests that require faster turnaround.
- Videos will vary in difficulty, with some being relatively easy and others requiring more time and attention.
Requirements:
- Strong command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Ability to accurately sync captions with video audio.
- Attention to detail in providing error-free captions.
- Comfort working with mature-themed content, including sensitive or explicit material.
- Full-time availability with consistent work hours.
- Reliable internet connection and self-discipline for remote work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in closed captioning or transcription is a plus, but beginners are encouraged to apply if you are a fast learner and trainable.
- Familiarity with captioning software (such as Aegisub, Subtitle Workshop, etc.) is a bonus, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of video formats, timecodes, or media files is helpful.
