We are seeking a creative and experienced architect or landscape architect to design an outdoor amphitheater for a camp located in a forested, hillside setting in San Bernadino Mountains in California. This project will serve as a gathering and event space for up to 350 people and must blend well with the natural environment while providing functional, durable, and safe construction.
Project Overview:
Capacity: 350 people
Layout: Two seating sections (left and right) with a wide central stairway (minimum 6–8 feet) between them
Topography: Gently sloped natural terrain; design will require some grading and concrete build-up to create a comfortable slope
Seating Structure: Concrete terraces with benches affixed to each level
Stage Area: Concrete slab at the base of the seating with a cinder-block wall backdrop (approx. 8–10 ft high) for acoustics and visual framing
Deliverables:
Conceptual site plan and 3D rendering(s)
Construction drawings with dimensions, elevations, and grading details
Materials recommendations (for durability and weather resistance)
Coordination with local codes and permitting considerations (if applicable)
