Role Description
 
This is a contract remote role for an Interpreter and/or Translator at InterpretEase. As an Interpreter, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely interpretation services in various settings and industries. You will facilitate communication between individuals who speak different languages, ensuring smooth and effective communication. This role requires flexibility, confidentiality, and professionalism.
 
Role Primary Responsibilities:
 
Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretations in a courteous and professional manner.
Ensure accuracy by conveying correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding any omissions or additions.
Speak clearly in both languages, utilizing proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
Maintain professionalism throughout interpreting sessions.
Remain composed, particularly in emergency situations or when dealing with incoherent or upset speakers.
Uphold punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
Adhere to client instructions, refraining from engaging with the Limited English-speaking Person (LEP) without client consent.
Familiarize oneself with industry-specific protocols and terminologies, including Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
Demonstrate a commitment to cultural sensitivity and thrive in diverse environments.
 
Role Qualifications:
 
Fluency in designated language and English, with a keen understanding of associated cultural nuances.
Ability to exhibit cultural competency and adapt communication to accommodate regional and accent variations of the LEP.
Strong listening, retention, and note-taking skills to ensure interpretation accuracy.
Preferred education or experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation.
Capability to adapt to technological advancements in language service delivery.
Minimum age requirement of 18 and legal authorization to work in the United States.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in reading and writing the required languages is highly desirable.
Additional Certifications or training in interpretation is a plus
 
Technical Requirements:

Possession of a dedicated mobile phone for business purposes (Apple iPhone or Android smartphones accepted).
High-speed internet connection with minimum download speeds of 5 Mbps and upload speeds of 3 Mbps for work-related electronic communication.
