I edit dissertations,masters theses, and academic papers, including papers written by non-native speakers of English. I am also an academic coach. I have worked with Ph.D. students who want more feedback and guidance than they can get from their chairperson. I also work with faculty and researchers providing feedback on their writing process and articles for journal submission. My clients have included students and faculty from more than a dozen universities, including Harvard, Oxford (UK), U of Chicago, U of Mass, Boston U, Boston College, Northeastern, Grand Canyon (online program), and Myongji U (S. Korea), as well as various research institutes. Most of my work is done through a highly-respected editing service, but sometimes I can fit in work with an additional client. The hourly rate on Guru is more affordable for many. I work in both Google Docs and Microsoft Word, using the tracking feature. I edit to whatever style is required by an author's intended source of publication, usually in APA, MLA, or Chicago Manual of Style. I began editing at a linguistics institute in South Korea many years ago, where I also taught English and writing at Seoul National University. My career took me into water resources and climate change, and my editing expanded to include economic and scientific papers. My clients have included researchers at research institutes as well as graduate and faculty at Harvard, Oxford, U. Chicago, Boston University, Boston College, Northeastern, and Myongji (S. Korea). As a coach, I work with graduate students who are feeling stuck in their writing or unsure of their direction. My coaching clients typically can't get enough of their advisors' time to have the conversations they need. I provide feedback, encouragement, strategies for overcoming roadblocks, and a sympathetic ear. It is always a thrill to see my clients strengthen their writing, develop greater confidence in their work, and achieve their goals. My coaching rate is $35/hr.
