As a line editor and copy editor, I excel at eliminating errors and inconsistencies while offering feedback on an as-needed/as-desired basis. I'm an expert at smoothing out dialogue, eliminating repetition, and making sure that prose flows smoothly and clearly. I'm careful to offer edits that maintain an author's original style & voice, and I'm detail-oriented from the start to the finish of each project I take on. When it comes to proofreading, my background as a teacher and the assistant director of a major university's writing center make me an ideal choice for authors who want fast and accurate read-throughs to insure correct grammar and prose. Of course, fiction doesn't always require correct grammar--especially when it comes to dialogue--but part of my expertise is in knowing when something reads smoothly and makes sense for a character or stylistic choice, as opposed to following a particular rule to the letter of its law.
