As an editor, I have a passion for helping my clients find the full potential in their manuscripts, whether serving as a developmental editor, line editor, or copy editor, on fiction or non.
I started editing while working with university literary journals, eventually becoming the lead editor of a major university's journal of literature and arts. From there, I branched out into freelancing as an editor of full manuscripts, working with both novelists and academic writers. In early 2014, I began freelancing on a full-time basis, developing an outstanding reputation for attention to detail, voice, style, and nuance. Since becoming a full-time freelancer, I've developed relationships with dozens of publishers and individual authors, and I look forward to continuing to do so through guru.
Work Terms
I do freelance on a full-time basis, so my schedule is fairly flexible.
Communication is key to all work relationships, so I always aim to answer client emails as quickly as possible (usually within 12 hours at most, even with time zone differences taken into account). I'm also available to chat via phone or Skype, as needed, though I rely most on email.
When it comes to cost, I'm glad to work on either an hourly rate or a fixed rate when it comes to editing. Different projects require different considerations, but my normal hourly rate (for any/all services) is 30.00 per hour, and although fixed rates can vary because of the separate needs of respective projects, my normal charge for editing is 8.00 per thousand words and my normal charge for proofreading only is 5.00 per thousand words.
