Business Analyst

1. Preliminary Research: Determine sources of information/evidence related to the project.
2. Information Gathering & Scoping: Undertake preliminary analysis of business requirements and use this information to scope projects.
3. Elicit: Carrying out elicitation using BABOK v2 Tools & Techniques like Storyboards, Prototyping, Workflow, Business Process Management,
4. Analysis: Analyze the business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment.
5. Process Modeling: Identify the most suitable modeling technique(s) required to achieve project outcomes.
6. Solution Options: Evaluate customer and organization business requirements, consider options and suggest a suitable solution(s).
7. Liaison with Tech Team: Deliberate on any proposed solution with product owners, architects, software engineers, quality assurance engineers, and end users to ensure its technical feasibility and to identify any problems.
8. Specifications: Document solution requirements keeping in view all aspects of the solution (business, technical, functional, non-functional) to ensure all components of the solution are addressed with the highest quality deliverable
9. Walkthrough: Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand and analyze information needs and requirements.
10. Consensus Building: Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze trade-offs between usability and performance needs.

The outcome is a software requirements specification, coupled with additional artifacts created during analysis like process flows, use cases (waterfall), and user stories (agile). requirements (functional and non-functional) etc.
