As a child, I was seen to be expressive and imaginative in my storytelling. I would pick up a pencil or paintbrush to create things from the top of my head or look at things. I used art as an outlet to express myself and the world surrounding me.
As an artist, my biggest influences were from various African American artists such as Romare Bearden and Elizabeth Catlett. I have been fascinated with the Impressionism period. From the artistic style of Paul Gauguin to the abstract style of Georgia O’Keeffe.
I enjoy working with mixed media and work primarily in oil paint, pencil, and pastel. My body of work merges with both my traditional and digital techniques.
