In my role as Technical Editor for the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society Atmosphere-Ocean Journal and as an independent research communications contractor I provide effective writing, technical reviewing, editing, and coordination for journal publication and book development.
I continually champion the production of professional and effective research copy, which includes leading the writing, editing, and coordination of research proposals, award nominations, letters of support, and other technical materials. With RCO, I currently support over 150 tenured faculty from five departments and schools in a client-service oriented role, providing project management for large research grants, and advancing interdisciplinary collaborations/partnerships with non-profit, public sector, and industry. These positions honed my capacity to be detail oriented, flexible, and accessible, while still exercising high levels of independence.
I have received knowledge mobilization (KMB) training through workshops and a short course through York University, with specific focus on engaging in meaningful conversation and research with Indigenous communities.
During my academic career, I successfully developed, managed, and/or coauthored various research grants, which required writing, coordinating research development and execution with industry, and project management.
Communication has always been a strong skill of mine. I lead the research KMB communications for RCO, and have experience with policy development, course creation and teaching, media and marketing/promotional materials development , complex information sharing agreements, bylaws and policies, monthly newsletter development, and website management . These opportunities have enabled me to become an expert with using Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, LaTeX, various browser skills, and honed my data management skills. I am particularly skilled at communicating technical information to non-technical audiences, using my ability to understand and distill complex scientific documents/information into plain language.
