Bethany provides professional and effective writing and copyediting services for the development of books, journal articles, and research proposals.
Currently, Bethany is the Research Communications Officer in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Guelph. She continually champions the production of professional and effective research copy, which includes leading the writing, editing, and coordination, of research proposals, award nominations, letters of support, and other technical materials. Bethany also takes the opportunity to write knowledge mobilization pieces, converting faculty research into accessible stories.
As the Technical Editor for the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society Atmosphere-Ocean Journal and as an independent research communications contractor Bethany provides effective writing, technical reviewing, editing, and coordination for journal publication and book development.
Bethany was the Proposal Development Officer for the Faculty of Mathematics, at the University of Waterloo, where she led the writing, reviewing, editing, and coordination of competitive research proposals, award nominations, letters of support, and other technical materials for a faculty of over 250 tenured professors.
From 2019-2021, Bethany was the of Manager of Swine Health Ontario, where she championed the development of the Ontario Swine Incident Command Centre and was the project manager for multiple research programs and projects.
She obtained her PhD in Environmental Science in 2018 from the University of Guelph. She studied how farmers’ local knowledge of their soils influenced land management and soil quality, in Brazil’s Natuba Basin. She continues her research, into the influence of management practices on soil structural quality in a Canadian context. During her PhD and postdoctoral studies she provided research copyediting for thesis development.
