Most industry people know it takes more than just a degree in engineering to get product built and out the door. It takes people with first-hand knowledge of manufacturing processes, and know how to do things like get quotes, perform material take-offs, costing, and spec materials. Your project is important. Don't trust it with anyone fresh out of school with no hands-on experience in product design and/or manufacturing. There are designers around with lower rates than mine. With my rates, however, you get a lot of "bang for your buck" as I work in a fast paced industry that gauges success by getting products release into production and in the hands of customers.
