I have extensive experience producing newsletters for diverse audiences. When I was the mayor's press secretary for the City of Dearborn, Michigan, I produced a monthly newsletter for nearly 700 employees. When I moved on to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, I served as editor/writer of The Service News newsletter which was sent each month to over 2,000 providers in Michigan. I also wrote feature articles for other Blue Cross newsletters. My background includes serving as a reporter/editor for United Press International for six years. My responsibilities included covering news and sports, writing features and editing dozens of stories each day. I also served as the press secretary for the mayor of Dearborn, Michigan for six years and as the media relations coordinator for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for nearly three years. In those two positions, I worked directly with local and national media outlets and my duties also included writing news releases as well as coordinating a number of high profile events such as the Olympic Torch visit and annual Memorial Day parades. I am currently writing as a freelance reporter for the Associated Press in Detroit.
