I've worked in the product design industry for 7 years - one of the most demanding and ever-changing types of production to work in. I've developed product for 4 toy companies and countless clients as a freelancer. The skills I used ranged from brainstorming, sketching out concepts, rendering them in color, creating 3D turn arounds for factory production, directing the factory on changes and progression and color and material, and finally creating the package graphics, occasionally die-lines and mock ups. To put it most simply, this industry calls upon a special blend of engineering, creativity and drawing skills, all of which I applied strongly. Designing physical items calls upon a great deal of focus, technical skill, communication skill and creativity, whether it's freelancing one on one with my client or in an office along with marketers, fellow designers, directors and licensors. This might be my broadest and most focused level of expertise, but having to create tangible products has also helped me take my graphic skills to new levels, and consider them from a very practical and quantitative perspective.
