I most enjoy projects that allow me to work with data from end to end--from collection, to cleaning, to analysis, to storage, to visualization. Consequently, I've worked in varying amounts with both backend and frontend tools--from BASH scripts, to Python's Pandas and Numpy, to MongoDB design, to JavaScript functionality. That said, while I love the full-stack work, some of my favorite projects have been ones in which I've deeply dove into one component of the 'stack'. That type of work provides more of an opportunity to research and refine, and my experience along the entire pipeline allows me to make decisions with the final solution in mind. While Python is one of my favorite tools to use, I strongly believe that every project requires a unique set of tools, and that significant thought and research should go into deciding those. As such, I've worked with various languages and open source software, and actually enjoy the opportunity to learn and work with unfamiliar technology. Academically my background differs a bit from my professional experience; my degree is in theoretical mathematics. While my work is quite applied now, I especially love any project that provides me the opportunity to combine mathematics through data analytics with my more newfound interest--development work.
