Experienced Strategic & Tactical Human Resources Professional!
I currently reside in Houston, TX and was born and raised in Michigan. I received my Masters in HR from Loyola University of Chicago and from there my passion for HR grew.
My first position after graduate school was with Shell Oil Company. I made the trek from Chicago to Houston in 2000 and from there spent the next several years gaining an incredible amount of experience holding various roles working with employees fro a multitude of disciples at encompassing all levels within the organization from hourly to VP. My project work during these first several years ranged from creating policy manuals, affirmative action plans, and diversity plans...to putting together an operator drug testing program. I created on-boarding programs, recruited for engineers, finance managers, and pipelines controllers. I performed compensation reviews, competitive analysis, and guided managers through sticky performance management issues.
I gained labor/industrial relations experience during a challenging year of negotiations and created a learning framework to help our colleagues in Europe understand the IR landscape.
I was in the right place at the right time to get a great cultural experience during the massive offshoring period beginning in 2005. Working in Manila to staff the new service center was incredible!
From there, I became a recruitment consultant leading a team of passionate and extremely intelligent employees who recruited for the company on the side.
I decided to leave Shell in 2007 to try something new. After several years of success in a start-up, and testing the waters in different industries, I returned to Shell in 2012 as an HR Account Manager supporting a large global function. With the desire to have more work life balance and time with my family, in late 2014 I made the difficult yet exciting choice to freelance/consult on my own. So far, it has been an incredible experience!
