Copy editors see things others don't.
I’m Christine Bode, the founder of Bodacious Copy, a one-stop shop for all your copyediting, proofreading, book reviewing, and Twitter marketing needs. As a seasoned professional freelance copy editor and proofreader with over a decade of experience in independent publishing and over 15 years of copyediting experience, I am known for my attention to detail and ability to spot errors others might miss.
I edit nonfiction, autobiographies, memoirs, anthologies, poetry, fiction, book proposals, website copy, press releases, blogs, and more. In addition, I offer copyediting, line editing, content editing, proofreading services and strategic Twitter marketing plans to help authors sell their books. My most recent project was a fantasy fiction novel for bestselling author, P.L. Stuart.
Since 2012, I’ve been the senior copy editor for Publish and Promote, a small Canadian/Costa Rican company that helps first-time and self-published authors realize their book publishing and marketing goals. I have provided their clients with editorial assessments, hosted an online presentation called How to Write a Book People Will Love—and Sell It!, and edited over three dozen books for them to date. Two books were Amazon bestsellers, and one was awarded the 2022 International Silver Medal Book Award (Readers Favorites) for nonfiction spirituality.
I use Microsoft WORD’s Track Changes, The Chicago Manual of Style as a style guide, and Merriam-Webster as my dictionary. I will not hesitate to ask you questions and leave comments, and I can provide you with a sample of my work.
A love of language has always influenced my life. I’ve been a voracious reader since age five and have read almost 1,000 books. When I was fourteen, I wrote a novella and had my first poem published in 16 Magazine and Scholastic Book Services’ Rock’s Biggest Ten. I recently published my second book of poetry, Eden Redefined.
