Writing soothes my soul.
Christy Maxwell is a National Board Certified Teacher with a background in special education. She currently serves as Assistant Principal for a fifth and sixth grade academy in a small Mississippi town. However, she is a writer at heart. She holds a B.S. Degree in Human Services Counseling and an M.S. Degree in Education. For twelve years, she served as an elementary school teacher for children with a variety of disabilities in all settings. She also served as the Local Survey Chairman for her school, handling special education legal issues, coordinating and supervising services for all the children in her school in addition to those in her class. Christy was also the special education curriculum representative for her school district. Thus, she is considered an expert in the field of education, offering insight and colorful opinions about public education.
Christy began writing professionally in 2009, helping her friend, Tom Catton, edit his book, The Mindful Addict: A Memoir of the Awakening Spirit, for which she received an acknowledgment. She began actively seeking other writing opportunities and remained busy and active in the freelance writing community. Christy has written a blog entitled “Making It Up as I Go Along”, authored a website entitled, “Don’t Let School Get in the Way of Your Education”, and penned many articles published on eHow and a variety of other web-based information sites. It isn’t clear whether she is writing about life, or whether life is writing her, but past history and current events provide rich fodder and multiple interests for Christy including: cystic fibrosis, organ donation and transplantation, yoga, meditation, educational law, travel, art, and addiction recovery. She is currently writing a book about her life ventures, and in the spirit of making it up as she goes along, anything else that comes to pass.
