Winning RFPs is not about cutting your costs and offering the lowest cost bid. While the bid has to be competitive, it is more important to differentiate your company and prove you have a better solution. Simply answering the questions and supplying the documentation requested is how most companies respond to RFPs. I call this a tactical RFP.

In contrast, a strategic RFP identifies the strengths and advantages you are offering which proves you are offering greater value. In my experience, a strategic RFP wins four times more often or about 80%. In addition, once you get your first one written then the rest are easier and faster.
