Writer . Editor . Author
I have been a writer most of my life. My career began when I won a Daughters of the American Revolution contest in fourth grade. I have not stopped writing since. A former journalist and non-practicing attorney, I offer 30 years of experience in writing, editing, proofing, marketing, and public relations.
I craft random thoughts, whimsical musings and vague facts into scintillating prose. I have the proven ability to write clearly and concisely under very tight deadlines.
I have provided writing services to wide range of organizations, including law firms, accounting firms, healthcare and insurance organizations, Fortune 500 corporations, non-profits, and civic/trade organizations.
My assignments have been varied: I have written speeches for a U.S. president and an attorney in South Korea, edited publications and reports for major corporations and small service firms, created communications plans for non-profits and new organizations, and ghost written articles for attorneys, CEOs, and small business owners. I have also written for such publications as the Minneapolis Star, Kenosha News, Twin Cities Magazine, Virginia Lawyers Weekly, Illinois Legal Times, Wisconsin Opinions and the Wisconsin Law Journal.
I am the author of fourteen books. One non-fiction, "Wisdom, Tips, and Musings on Marketing and Public Relations," the others romantic fiction. I also ghostwrite books for other professionals.
I hold undergraduate and graduate degrees in journalism and education from the University of Minnesota, and a law degree from St. Louis University. I also attended Northwestern University.
Work Terms
I work part-time on a telecommuting basis, and communicate with my clients via e-mail or telephone. While I typically bill by the hour, some of my clients prefer to keep me on a monthly retainer to ensure availability. I will also provide a "not-to-exceed" estimate for large projects. I prefer to be paid on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, with payment arrangements confirmed prior to starting work. Projects expected to generate in excess of $1,000 in fees may require the signing of an independent contractor agreement.
