Cisco

Merritt was born in Miami, Florida, the son of Pat Jones, a high school teacher and Buck Jones, a telephone line man who worked for Western Union. Along with his siblings Russell (born 1962) and Lisa (born 1967), he grew up in South Dade, Florida, where the family moved to Virginia soon after his 10th birthday. Growing up, he was raised as a conservative Presbyterianism.

Merritt attended McLean High School, where he excelled; he was member of the wrestling team, tennis and swimming teams as well as the Spanish club. Following his graduation, Merritt attended George Mason University in 1982, where he continued his wrestling fraternity. He majored in Business, with a focus on advertising. In 1983, two weeks prior to summer break, Merritt left the university and got a job. When asked why he left the university, Merritt responded "I had the feeling my major was not going anywhere. "

My life started to change when the internet came along. I stated working for an ISP called Bell Atlantic Internet Solution and was there for 1 year. After that I worked for MCI and got my CCNA. Moreover, I worked for Qwest NOC. I now have 10 years experience in my field.
