Limit my client base to a few CEO’s. Work as if “outside board member” or Mentor (or both) . Can include key management. Planned Teleconferences. Bronze is "me" by Arnolds Sculptor.
Philippe Yaconelli has been an active Silicon Valley entrepreneur since 1967 having started and run several capital-intensive high tech companies.
Yac (as he likes to be called) served as the CEO of his operations. Two of the better known companies he founded were Caelus Memories which grew under his leadership to employ 1000 individuals and was a leader in its chosen field (rigid disk technology) and Caere Corporation which was listed on the NASDAQ for many years and was also a leader in its chosen field (Scanning and OCR Technology). Bob Noyce , who was Chairman of Intel at the time Yac started Caere, was also the Chairman of Caere.
Yac has served on many boards and helped others fund and/or strategize their organizations.
In his career - Yac has also had to place one firm into Chapter 7 and took another thru a DIP into/out of 11. The financial markets had made obtaining planned equity infusions impossible at critical times forcing these “undesirable moves.”
Yac also served as a Corporate VP of Marketing which included Sales in a Fortune 500 Company and joined them at a time when sales were down significantly and helped strategize and implement many programs which rejuvenated this operation.
Over the years he has been a guest speaker at several West Coast Universities, Graduate Schools of Business and business gatherings.
He is a BSME graduate of USC and has attended graduate school. Additionally he completed a two year business course and a one year Dun & Bradstreet Financial program + numerous clinics and programs relative to Entrepreneurial endeavors.
His many hobbies over the years have included aerobatic flying (he had his own special built open place aerobatic plane built), martial arts (Yac and his three sons are lifetime students in a variety of martial arts systems) and all are active fitness buffs. Jazz Piano Playing is another of Yac’s passions and he has studied both classical as well as jazz piano for years.

Today’s businesses are complex affairs with all of the incredible options and hurdles that face the management of any ongoing or “fledgling” operation.
I liken the “workings” of an organization to the transmission of a car. There are many moving parts in the transmission – all moving at different speeds - and the challenge of most management teams is to ensure the time these gears have to “mesh” – that they are running at the same speed – otherwise a lot of “grinding and potential damage and breakdowns” are possible.
After setting up and running a variety of operations, my role and “skill set” can be summed up as that of “An Orchestra Leader” who does not know how to play any of the instruments better than any single musicians – but – I know exactly what everyone’s part needs to be and how to lead the Orchestra so that both the participants and those watching and listening believe they have just witnessed something special.
This type of understanding only is attained thru doing. And doing things both correctly and doing things incorrectly. Both provide scar tissue and knowledge which we can use to our advantage later on.
Mike Tyson had a wonderful comment. “Everyone has a plan until the first punch is landed.” You “really learn” in the ring! Not “shadow boxing” or watching!
Basically I have spent the majority of my adult life studying start-ups, fast ramp operations, small to medium size companies and how they should be operated and maximized. In addition, I have started several of my own and although not all were successful, several were winners and I feel comfortable sharing the knowledge I have picked up over several decades.
My preference is to work one on one with a CEO or a CEO and his top management. Clients preference here.
