Writing about the Arts & Yoga
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts from Whitman College, Walla Walla, Washington, USA, graduated 1994. I have spent the last nineteen years creating and exploring the visual arts of the world. I’ve studied Chinese painting in Kunming, Yunnan Province, Peoples Republic of China; oil painting/ceramics in Florence, Italy, at Studio Arts Centers International; and environmental painting in the Peruvian Amazon with shaman Don Pablo Amaringo.
From 2000-2010, I was co-owner and co-creator of Airspeed Skateparks LLC. I and my partner designed and built functional concrete sculptures around the world: the USA, Mexico, Ireland, Nepal and South Africa. I was co-owner and the business writer for Airspeed Skateparks LLC for 10 years. Today, I am a novelist with a work-in-progress, an art-based historical novel, Cut From the Earth, a story of Portuguese tile and its surprising makers — The Great Lisbon Earthquake of 1755 — and the wisdom of nature to guide and heal. I have a deep passion for art-related historical fiction and stories. I have written freelance for trade journals, and fiction for literary publications American Athenaeum and Lalitamba. I’m a Certified teacher of Integrative Yoga Therapy (Hatha Yoga), incorporating elements of Somatic Movements, Reflexology, and Mantra Yoga.I study and teach Kum Nye- Tibetan Yoga, Certified by the Nyingma Institute of Brazil. Nyingma is the “Old School” of Tibet Buddhism. I lead writing, art and yoga workshops and write about them.
