Experienced Mechanical Engineer
Twenty Seven years experience as a Project Engineer for design, fabrication, and deployment of remote equipment for robotic applications in hazardous areas, and the last Five years as an Entrepreneur launching a high-tech startup company based on technology developed at the Idaho National Laboratory. Tasks included networking and obtaining startup funding for an innovative robotics company, project management, personnel management, preparation of funding proposals and marketing studies, technical consultation, along with customer relations tasks, and mechanical design and drafting.
Experience covers a broad selection of the disciplines within mechanical design. System design experience includes hydraulic and mechanical systems on excavation equipment, hydraulic pipe unplugging equipment, pneumatics on remote tools used in reactor maintenance and pipe inspection equipment, and structural design for hot cell equipment, large piping mockups and platforms. Technical writing skills have been honed, preparing project proposals, writing systems operational test procedures, and detailing analysis of technical designs. Operationally, he has operated nuclear reactors, large steam turbines, turbine generators, large pumping and cooling systems, HVAC and ventilation equipment, hydraulic systems moving very large pieces of equipment, condensers, evaporators, large diesel generators, sophisticated navigation, sonar and targeting systems, and electrolysis equipment in the US Navy as a Submarine Officer.

Flexible terms, I prefer to know a full job description before starting to ensure we are on the same page. If it's a larger job, I like to receive periodic payments as the job progresses. Communications can be by phone, email, texts, or we can meet and talk if the distance isn't too great. I'm in the Mountain time zone, so call after 8 am here please. If you require prototype fabrication, I will need funds to purchase items and contract machining beforehand.
